GOOD NEWS

CAS CREDIT - According to Mr. Wong, ATYP "activity engages students to use their creative thinking skills and intellectual abilities and run for more than 3 months on a regular basis, it is considered as MAJOR CAS (creativity)." There may be a chance for a minor service component for ATYP leaders later in the year in designing a math competition day.

CAS (Recreational Math Teams)

Do you know you are automatically a member of the Recreational Math Teams?

The following is a brief description for the ATYP (CAS Club)

CAS clubs Name: ATYP (Academically Talented Youth Programme) Math Teams

Capacity: pre-selected Y6-10 students
Year groups: 6-10
Time: Before or after school

Dates of CAS clubs:

Description of CAS clubs:
This is a rigorous and academically challenging program. It requires a commitment to attend one after school session and 1 lunch session each week throughout the year. This is for students who are exceptionally gifted in mathematics. Students participating in the course will study mathematics in more depth than in their regular class and they are expected to show considerable self-motivation.
Students will be selected to join this course according to their Mathematics results and must be nominated by teachers.
All ATYP students are automatically be the member of the Recreational Math Teams and they will enjoy similar activities as well.

Creativity Focus: Students in the ATYP will undertake new challenges and develop new skills in order to compete in Math competitions against other students from Hong Kong (Hua Xia Cup/ HKMO, etc.) and around the world (ASMA/ AMC/ IMO, etc.).
When not competing, students engage in an extended Math progrmme and other Math and logic games (Pythagorean Puzzles, Nine chains, Tower of Hanoi, Domino, Vertical chains, Platonic solids, Magic Cube, 24 points, etc.) in order to show their perseverance and commitment.

Service Focus: Throughout the year, students are required to plan and initiate Math competitions, such as “Problems of the week”, Math puzzle games” and by the end of the year will organize a “Mathematics Forum competition”
